---- About our partners //
NIGHT SCHOOL is an event series based on discourse, live performance and networking. Our mission is to support marginalized female-identfying, trans and non-binary artists and activists in Berlin’s independent music scene. Using an Intersectional feminist perspective, we invite innovators and artists to explore relevant topics - peer to peer, connect musicians to industry experts, offer collaboration opportunities, and elevate visibility with live shows. Our goal is to bring the music community closer towards equality and diversity, therefore establishing a platform that brings continuity and a Do-it-Together ethic in one space where we can strengthen the next generation. supported by the Musicboard Berlin GmbH
musicBwomen - art.business.media. - is part of the nationwide Music Women Germany initiative, for the promotion, networking and visualisation of women* in the music (-business) industry. No matter if artist, business, media or tech - from conductor, manager, entrepreneur, musician, producer to technician, all women in the music industry are offered qualification, networking, presence, participation and empowerment.
We network music women* through meet-ups and networking events with partner initiatives and activists*. Thanks to the support of Musicboard Berlin, we were able to create the foundation of our network in 2019. The resulting #musicbwomen advisory centre gives the music women* space for thinking, exchange and design and supports further education and workshops that promote the future of pop culture. In addition, our website musicBwomen Berliner Musik gives Berlin music initiatives a networked platform and offers a visible springboard through a database of Music Women Germany.
Andrea Rothaug (Bundesverband Popularmusik e.V.) founded these initiatives in cooperation with RockCity Hamburg and musicHHwomen with the aim of installing networks (on board - musicBwomen, musicBWwomen, musicBYwomen, musicHHwomen, musicNDSwomen, musicNRWwomen) in all 16 federal states.
Music Women Germany is the independent umbrella organisation of the regional 16 state networks (partly in the process of being founded) for the promotion, networking and visualisation of women* in the music industry, but also existing networks in Germany, Music Women Germany was founded on 19.09.2019 at the Reeperbahnfestival. Also on board is the first nationwide database of all music women*.
The aim of the new platform www.musicwomengermany.de with its integrated database is to promote gender equality and the participation of music women, sustainably through all levels of professionalism, age and regardless of origin. Our motivation is to make the local music culture and economy diverse, diverse, digital and networked in order to achieve professional equality of access for women to the music business.

Gizem Adiyaman, aka Meg10 is an activist, political educator, and DJ. In 2017 she co-founded Hoe__mies, with Lucia Luciano. It is a Hip Hop party series and community space centering around women*, non-binary, and trans people. In 2019 they hit the road and DJ‘d as opening act before live touring shows and on the stages of larger festivals (Melt/Juicy). In November 2019, they participated in a two week residency called Night Embassy _ and created Sweetest Taboo where they created workshops, panels and a poppin’ party program.
Hoe__mies is a DJ Duo consisting of Lúcia Lu & Meg10 as well as a Hip Hop party series that quickly garnered popularity and became one of Berlin’s favorite nights. What sets us apart is our political approach to make the Hip Hop scene more inclusive for womxn, non binary and trans people. We serve as a platform for DJs and performers often overlooked by the mainstream, and challenge male dominance in Hip Hop and other urban genres.

Sanni Est was born and raised in the North-East of Brazil, where she absorbed strong influences from euphoric heated beats as well as melancholy romantic lyrics. After 5 years of studying classical music and music theory at the Conservatory, she moved to Berlin where she played Afro-Brazilian drums in a percussion group for a couple of years whilst falling in love with the underground electronic scene. As an attempt to put together melodic needs with thirst for bass and beats expressed through audio-visual experiments, this project was born. https://www.facebook.com/sanniest/
Empower is an afro-futurist and queer-feminist festival made out of Sanni Est's own dream of an event where her music and community had the platform that was missing in the city. Featuring some of the most important music, audiovisual and visual art being made by queers and people of color. They seek alliances between marginalized groups - between various gender, racial and sexual identities.
